I didn't get to run the undie run in Tulsa last year because it was the day of my sister's 8th grade graduation. I was disappointed because the finisher's medal was super cute and I love TATUR racing's medals.. They're always the best :) So I entered a contest to win 2 entries into the race this July and I actually won... I'm ecstatic!!

first 25K, a half marathon PR, and a sore IT Band
Go Short, Go Long, Go Very Long 25K was this weekend. Such an amazing race! We literally ran all over Tulsa and the weather was wonderful- chilly in the early morning and then warming up about an hour and a half into the race. I kept a good pace, was basically pain free, and my breathing was perfect all through mile 11.. after mile 11, my IT band started acting up and I kept having to stop and stretch it all through mile 15.5. I was beyond happy to cross the finish line and eat/drink. That long of a distance really takes it outta you and makes you hungry. I had a wonderful lunch at a little cafe in Utica Square (a fancy little center filled with high end shopping and restaurants). I treated myself to a pizza with a white pesto, mozzarella, chicken, spinach, and mushrooms- great post race food :) We left before they had calculated race results.. every time I leave before they calculate them, I come home to find I have placed in my age group.. which is exactly what happened yesterday. I came home to find I had gotten 3rd in my age group- pretty shocking since I felt like my last 4.5 miles weren't strong at all. So today I'm just relaxing, going to Starbucks, and laying around. I feel so accomplished finally running in a race that was over 13.1 miles.. It gave me a little bit of insight as to how much more I really need to train for a full marathon. Here's some pics from the race....

No time for lazy
I generally check in on Facebook when I go to the gym. I don't do it to try to impress people or anything like that. I simply check in because it motivates me, makes me feel accountable, and I have a reference of when I went to the gym. So a few months ago, one of my male Facebook friends made a comment to me one night and said that people who check in on Facebook or upload their Nike Plus runs on Facebook really annoyed him. I felt offended and like he was taking a stab at me. Yes, he is one of my friends who, at the time, was not fit, did not work out, did not eat healthy, etc. but it still really bothered me. So today I came across this picture and it all made sense to me and there's a lot of truth in it......

Happy National Peanut Butter day :)
Today is national peanut butter day...
I feel like every day should be peanut butter day lol it's definitely my weakness!
I ordered some PB2 to cook with and to mix into my protein after my workouts- amazing stuff! I definitely recommend it. My body really craves peanut butter sometimes. So today I celebrated National Peanut Butter Day by eating some white chocolate peanut butter on a plain rice cake and then after my workout, I mixed some PB2 into my vanilla protein shake- delicious!!

Happy Monday! :)
Happy Monday, everyone :)
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.
I spent my Friday eating sushi and going to a local concert, Saturday I got a massage to try and relieve some IT Band issues I've been having from running, and Sunday I got in a long run and then came home and laid on the couch the rest of the day. I've been really struggling with my IT Band and it really isn't giving in much even with the Epsom salt baths, foam roller, ice, and ibuprofen. I have a 15.5 mile race on Saturday so it looks like ill be babying my body this week and praying that I can get through it with this injury. Comments, suggestions, and advice are all very appreciated!!!!
On a lighter note, here's a picture of the awards for placing in this weekend's race...
